is name is Bond, James Bond. He symbolises the luxury, the exoticism, the adventure, and when he goes on holiday, it is in the Bahamas Islands. Supernatural, divine, incredible. There is something unreal in this archipelago of seven hundred islands. 300.000 sq. yards of dreams, a underwater playground of matchless variety. The patrimony of the Bahama Islands is in the water, hidden pirates' treasure a few feet below the surface, waiting for the diver who wants to contemplate it. A living treasure, every plot of which is unique: in the Bahamas one dives not only into a dream, but into paradise. This fabulous set that James Bond likes investigating: sharks, coral reefs. Others also appreciate this magnificence: Domino Derval, Honey Rider, but also the James Bond Girl in Dr. No who appears in a bikini, with conch in hand, singing "Underneath the Mango Tree" on the island of Crab Key.
The
conch, the emblem
of the archipelago
The conch, also called Lambi, is transformed into a musical instrument with a small hole in its extremity. The deep sound of this natural trumpet was used to sound an alarm, as in the William Golding novel Lord of Flies. This shell has become the symbol of the archipelago.
Diving is the key activity in the Bahamas. All the islands are surrounded with coral reefs, where visibility in the water is exceptional; underwater, a firework of colours and forms: eels, barracudas, parrotfish and coral galore. One can investigate a myriad of ships and planes remains, and even that of a train, in Eleuthera. Diving is particularly famous near cliffs.

Diver's
Kingdom
The constant trade winds guarantee pleasant temperatures all year long. The best season is summer, which is warm but refreshed by winds. The temperature of the water is then so pleasant that you can swim there for hours...
Like James, please, wear a swimming suit! No need for a wetsuit or oxygen tanks: certain depths are less two metres. Thrill seekers or magic landscape lovers will be delighted. Have you ever been surprised by a shark or a tortoise in full pondering over the magnificent gardens of Elbow Cay's coral? Sometimes, so many eyes stare at you that you have the strange feelong of being the observed animal! You could just wonder whether you are diving in the sea or in an amusement park aquarium.
And you also can dive at night, explore underwater caves of the Lucayen National Park, or discover the "blue hole" so appreciated by Jacques Cousteau, like the famous vertiginous "Claw of the Devil" in San Salvador.
If it you suddenly feel like fishing, please have a thought for the author Ernest Hemingway: the Bahamas Islands were his favourite fishing ground and they say he never came home empty-handed.
