For an overnight or weekend break the Château de Saint Michel de Lanes, situated between Toulouse and Carcassonne, only 5 minutes from the Canal du Midi, one hour from the Pyrenees and Mediterranean beaches is the ideal place to stay : original, relaxing and full of historic charm. Although you could easily lose yourself in the maze of rooms, only the two prettiest bedrooms, as well as three drawing rooms - all beautifully restored - are reserved for you. Panelling, marble chimneys from Italy or from the Minervois region, oak parquet floors, paintings and pleasant grey and blue tapestries, reveal the real face of this shining castle. At Saint Michel de Lanes castle, charm and poetry await you under the impassive stare of the stone women overhanging the front. Access

By road
From the motorway A 61, take the Exit Villefranche de Lauragais. Turn right at the roundabout and right again at the T-junction, direction Gardouch, Nailloux, Auterive.
After 1 km, turn left after the bridge across the Canal du Midi (Gardouch lock), direction Mirepoix, direction Salles-sur-Hers and Saint-Michel-de-Lanes.
Arriving at Saint-Michel-de-Lanes, take the first turning la direction Barrage-sur-la-Ganguise. The castle is first on the left after the bridge across the river Hers.
